On Saturday, April 11, 2026, a crew with Engitex Construction was installing underground piping at a site on South Loop 336 East near FM 3083 in Conroe when nearly 10-foot walls of dirt gave way without warning. Two workers were buried by the collapse.
Despite rescue efforts by fellow crew members and emergency responders from five local fire departments and the Montgomery County Hospital District, one victim died at the scene before 1 p.m. The second victim was rescued, hospitalized, and has since been released.
