On March 26 and 27, 2014, Hamilton Wingo, LLP, attorneys Chris Hamilton and Angela Pacheco spoke to a group of law students in the Externship Program at Texas A&M School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas, on the topics of professional development and success.
Students attending the event were interested in how to transition into practice and develop a professional identity, including how to discover the type of law they want to practice, how to set themselves up for success, and how to distinguish themselves in the job market.
During his presentation, Chris shared his experience of starting a law firm, emphasizing the importance of being passionate about your work and striving to build a strong reputation one case at a time. Angela discussed tips on how to be successful as a first year lawyer and provided the students with practical advice on formulating productive relationships with clients, peers, and opposing counsel.
