GRAPEVINE, Texas – Plaintiffs trial lawyer Chris Hamilton of Dallas’ Hamilton Wingo recently delivered a presentation for a group of attorneys from the Texas Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit during the group’s annual training held in Grapevine, Texas.

“The incredible group of lawyers with the Texas Medicaid Fraud unit handles some of the most important cases facing our state, and I’m proud to have been invited to speak to the group,” Mr. Hamilton says. “Healthcare fraud costs millions of dollars every year, and it is important that we all work together to keep it from happening.”

In the program titled “Litigating Private Equity Liability Under the FCA,” Mr. Hamilton and experienced attorney Caitlyn Silhan of Dallas’ Waters Kraus & Paul detailed their prior work with the Medicaid Fraud Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in a high-stakes federal False Claims Act case.

The lawsuit against a private equity firm and a group of hospital officials focused on millions of dollars in fraudulent claims submitted to the Massachusetts Medicaid program. The $25 million settlement Mr. Hamilton helped negotiate remains the largest publicly disclosed healthcare fraud settlement involving private equity oversight in U.S. history.
